Luxembourg, September 24, 2019.  Serbia and France will lock horns in the second CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men semifinal to be played on September 27 in Paris. On Tuesday evening, Serbia overpowered Ukraine in their hard-fought quarterfinal clash in Antwerp, while France cruised to a home straight-set win over Italy in Nantes.

Antwerp, Belgium, September 24, 2019.  Three years ago, at the 2016 CEV U20 European Championship in Plovdiv, the team of Ukraine wrote a remarkable Cinderella story, which led them to silver. Two of the squad’s main heroes back then, Oleh Plotnytskyi and Dmyto Viietskyi, are among Ukraine’s leaders at the ongoing CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men, where, unexpectedly to most, they reached the quarterfinal stage. Before their upcoming clash with heavy favourites Serbia, the two young athletes take time to speak to cev.eu and analyze the reasons behind Ukraine’s success.

Luxembourg, September 23, 2019.  Slovenia and Poland will face each other in the first CEV EuroVolley 2019 Men semifinal to be played on September 26 in Ljubljana. These two squads came out as victors of Monday’s quarterfinal clashes, with Russia and Germany, respectively. The remaining two semifinalists will emerge from Tuesday’s quarterfinals, Serbia vs. Ukraine and France vs. Italy.

Luxembourg, September 22, 2019. Once again, not surprisingly, Wilfredo Leon of Poland is our player of the round. So far, nobody has been able to stop or even slow down his ferocious attacking and serving. In the eighth finals match against Spain on Saturday night, he scored seven aces and nine kills to get Poland their fifth sweep in a row. One of their favourite plays has been to set Leon high and inside, where he can simply hit it over opposing blockers to score.
